Comments: | Place in Nuu mentioned by historian Moses Manu in a portion of the legend “He Moolelo Kaao no ke Kaua nui Weliweli mawaena o Pelekeahialoa a me Wakakeakaikawai” published in the newspaper Ka Loea Kalaiaina on Sept. 9, 1899: "The name of it [the spring] is Waiu and it flows to this very day in which we are telling this tale. This water comes out of a hill of red rocks and cinder similar to Kauiki Hill. At Nuu, on the windward side, the lava had covered it from Pohakuuluula down." [translation] |
