| Comments: | Area east of Keanawai hill. Mentioned in the field notes of archaeologist Winslow Walker from a survey of Kaupo in 1929: "Tapa-drying platform: At Pohakunahaha near the hill of Keanawai." Diacretical spelling comes from Kaupo native Josephine Marciel in an interview with historian Mary Kawena Pukui at Marciel's house in May 1960. Hawaiian historian Moses Manu mentioned Pohaku Nahaha in a portion of the history of the chief Kihapiilani published February 23, 1884, in Nupepa Kuokoa: "Aia laua e hoomaha ana ma Pohakunohaha a liuliu loa, o ka poo aku la no ia o ka la." (They were resting at Pohakunohaha for a long time at sunset.) |
