A large, fine bell is being stored with Castle & Cooke. This bell has been stored there for a long time waiting on the residents of Kaupo. The Kaupo church has provided half the payment for the bell, with half still outstanding. Therefore, we urge the residents of Kaupo to quickly pay the remaining portion. If you do not act, it will soon be sold to those who want it.

ABOUT KAUPO’S BELL.—The people of Kaupo were tardy sending the outstanding balance for the bell for which they provided an initial payment, this being the bell at Castle & Cooke’s building. They have now paid the balance in full and taken possession of the bell. But had they delayed any longer, the people of Waikane would have taken it. The Rev. Z. Po had come with money, seeking to buy the bell for them, but Castle & Cooke wanted to wait. Shortly thereafter, the money came from Kaupo and they took the bell. The people of Waialua wanted the same bell, but the youths of Kaupo had already hastened it away.
