Comments:Place mentioned in the birth notices of the newspaper Ka Hae Hawaii on January 4, 1860: "Dekemaba 4, ma Kihapuhala, Kaupo, Maui, hanau o Kaaipani w., na Malaihi me Paukeaho." (December 4 [ 1859 ], at Kihapuhala, Kaupo, Maui; Kaaipani, a girl, was born to Malaihi and Paukeaho.)

Also mentioned in an 1866 article in Nupepa Kuokoa about a Kaupo battle in the 1770s.
