| Comments: | Ridge and surveying triangulation station above Mokuia Point described in the publication Triangulation in Hawaii (1930). Mentioned in Royal Patent Grant 3205 (1879). Diacretical spelling comes from Rose Soon, daughter of Kaupo Store founder Nick Soon. Mentioned in an obituary for 1-year-old Marjorie Kaonoipua published in the newspaper Ka Nupepa Kuokoa on July 14, 1927: "Aloha na pali o Kailua ahiki i Keanae a hoea i Naopuu, Kaupo, kahi a kuu bebe i hele ai; auhea oukou e Kanuha ma, ua pau ko Kaanoipua hehi-ku ana i ko oukou home; aloha na pali o Kalepa kahi o Marjorie i noke ai i ka uwe i ke kakani o ke kapuai wawae lio iluna o ka pohaku. Aloha no ia mau pali!" (Farewell, cliffs from Kailua to Keanae all the way to Naopuu, Kaupo, where my baby went. How are you, the Kanuhas, your sweetheart no longer stamps through your home. Any relation to Kawika Gapero? I know that he grew up in Kaupo in the 1950s.
Yes, he is my youngest uncle. My other uncle, Jimmy, frequents Kaupo on the weekends. Would love to get out there with the ohana to reconnect with the land.
