Comments:Place in Kaupo Gap marking the boundary of Haleakala Crater. Described by Bishop Museum researcher Thomas Maunupau in his account of his trip to Kaupo Gap in May 1922: "Hiki makou i Panilauhulu, olelo mai la o Joseph Marciel ua komo makou iloko o ke Crater (Lua o Haleakala)." (We reached Panilauhulu, and Joseph Marciel [Maunupau's local guide] said that we had entered Haleakala Crater.)
