Comments: | Former spring in the shoreline area of Nuu destroyed by heavy surf, according to an article in the newspaper Ka Leo o ka Lahui published July 6, 1891: "Ma Waiemi punawai, ua hoolueai iho la i ke a a ke kai a paa pu, aohe ike ia iho he punawai, malaila kou mea kakau kahi i kiu ai." (At Waiemi spring, the jaws of the sea opened and covered it. The spring could not be seen. Your correspondent saw it himself.) Described as the location of the residence of "Mr. Malihinihele" (a pseudonym) in a letter published in Ko Hawaii Pae Aina in August 1889. |
