Comments: | Identified as an ahupuaa in the Hawaiian Ethnological Notes collection of the Bishop Museum: "Kukoae is the ahupuaa. Kii is the fishing ground." Land Commission Award 823 (1854) was located at the "ahupuaa o Kukoae & Waipouli." Diacretical spelling provided by Josephine Kealoha Marciel in an interview with historian Mary Kawena Pukui at Marciel's house in Kaupo on May 3, 1960. |
