Comments: | Identified as a possible ahupuaa on the circa-1880s Hawaiian Government Survey map of Kaupo. Site of Kaupo Ranch headquarters. Mentioned in the story of Pihana Heiau by Puea-a-Makakaualii in the 1920s: "After the battle of Hana, Kamehameha I and soldiers stopped at Naholo-ku, to visit the high chiefess Kalanikaukooluaole of exclusive tabu." Naholoku is contained in an appendix list of ahupuaa and large ili in "Report of the Superintendent of the US Coast and Geodetic Survey Showing the Progress of the Work From July 1, 1901, to June 30, 1902". |
