Comments: | Gulch in Kaupo Gap. Described by Bishop Museum researcher Thomas Maunupau in his account of his trip to Kaupo Gap in May 1922: "Ua hoomau ia aku no ka hele ana nomua; ahiki mai makou ia wahi i kapaia o Koleanui (manu kolea nui), he awawa keia, a o ke kukui ka laau o keia wahi." (We went on until we reached a place called Koleanui [large Pacific golden plover bird]. This is a gulch, and kukui trees are present here.) |
