Annie M. Kala Has Passed Away
("Annie M. Kala Ua Nalo Ia", Ka Loea Kalaiaina, February 25, 1899)
On the 7th of this month at 9:15 p.m., the merciless hand of death struck and ruthlessly snatched the last breath of Miss Annie Marie Kala, my beloved granddaughter, and left behind the ephemeral remains for her family to grieve over on this bank of the black river of death.
She was born at Nuu, Kaupo at 10:30 p.m. on April 11 of the previous year1 from the loins of Mr. and Mrs. L. M. Kala, Jr.2
The number of days she spent alive amounted to 9 months, 1 hour and 15 minutes. Thus were fulfilled the words of the Good Book:—“As the cloud is consumed and vanisheth away: so he that goeth down to the grave shall come up no more. He shall return no more to his house, neither shall his place know him any more.”3
Therefore, she has found respite and peace in her home in heaven above.
Glory be to the Eternal Father.
G. W. KAUHANE.
