A Eulogy for J. P. Keaupuni
("He Hoalohaloha No J. P. Keaupuni", Nupepa Kuokoa, June 11, 1915)
On May 19, 1915, the distressing, sad news spread that J. P. Keaupuni had departed this life and that his spirit had been returned to the one who made it.
The deceased J. P. Keaupuni was a church brother, a Sunday school student, and a member of the C. E.1 Society member at the church at Mokulau, Kaupo.
His body wasted away from sickness for only a few days before he passed away.
On May 4, at the elections for county candidates was where he became sick.
He was born on September 3, 1832. Therefore, he completed 93 years in this world before passing away.
Therefore, be it resolved, we church brethren, Sunday school students, and members of the C. E. Society of the church of Kaupo, through our committee, join in mourning for our departed fellow laborer. J. P. Keaupuni has passed on to be with the Lord Jesus Christ.
Be it further resolved that copies of this obituary will be provided to the newspapers The Friend and the Nupepa Kuokoa as well as to the family.
We pray to the Heavenly Father to lighten the heavy hearts of the family. Praise be to God in heaven. He gave, and He hath taken away2.

Note: The age at death listed in this article (93) is likely accurate due to the specifically identified birth date of September 3, 1832. However, census records confusingly list Keaupuni's age as 75 in both 1900 and 1910.
